As a leading developer, manufacturer, and global supplier of scientific laboratory products for 100 years, Corning’s Life Sciences segment collaborates with researchers seeking new approaches to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and compress timelines in the drug discovery process. Using unique expertise in the fields of materials science, surface science, optics, biochemistry and biology, the segment provides innovative solutions that improve productivity and enable breakthrough discoveries.

Scope of Position

In this role as an Account Manager, you will be responsible for achieving revenue targets and meeting the business needs of our customers and distribution partners in defined territory. We look for you to develop new markets/ customers/ applications while representing the Corning Life Sciences division. You will represent the organization as the prime contact on contracts and projects. You will interact with customers on significant technical and commercial matters often requiring coordination between internal departments and external organizations. We look for you to communicate effectively within the company and with our customers and partners.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed sales budget for the territory.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and distributors
  • Implement aggressive growth driven programs with distribution
  • Work as a team with other account managers
  • Build relationships with all internal functional groups
  • Create, implement and maintain a sales plan that meets or exceeds performance requirements
  • Know your products and channel/market/customer dynamics/drivers
  • Manage all facets of responsibilities within the framework of Corning’s values

Travel Requirements

Up to 25% with some overnights needed. Territory includes key academics and small biotechs located in San Francisco and East bay

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Life Sciences degree program preferred.
  • Minimum 2+ years sales OR Laboratory experience, working with Corning workflows preferred
  • Candidate will be located in the San Francisco Bay Area and be willing to travel daily to accounts
  • Proficient computer/data analysis skills (Excel, Outlook E-Mail, Word, Power Point).
  • Previous sales experience with record of meeting or exceeding sales budget
  • Problem-solving and conflict management skills.
  • Business skills – financial analysis (sales analysis, trend reporting, usage reporting, pricing analysis).

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Laboratory experience
  • Experience with SalesForce.com and sales opportunity management, funnel development
  • Established customer network in SF Bay Area
  • Experience working with distribution partners

This position does not support immigration sponsorship.

The range for this position is $83,263.00 - $114,487.00 plus an attractive variable compensation package assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
