Job summary

CMC is seeking a buyer/operations contributor in Odessa, TX to purchase scrap metal materials, stay informed on market conditions, and grow assigned accounts. You will participate in ongoing training and apply pricing policies while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role requires 1–3 years of business or operations experience, willingness to relocate if needed, and solid Microsoft Office skills. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years business or operations experience (internship accepted).
• Entry-level supervision, sales or operations experience is a plus.
• Willingness to relocate at program end if opportunities shift location.
• Strong buying/selling knowledge and product understanding.
• Proficiency with Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

What You’ll Do

• Purchases scrap metal materials in accordance with current market conditions based on pricing standards/models established by Company policy
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
• Develops the growth of business activities and profit with assigned accounts
• Maintains accurate records of all buying/sourcing and prospecting activities including closed sales and follow-up activities

What You’ll Need

• 1-3 years business or operations experience (can include intern experience)
• Entry-level work experience in people or project supervision, sales, operations, and/or customer service is a plus
• Willingness to relocate at the end of the program if the next opportunity is at a different location
• Leadership skills in professional, educational, and/or social experiences
• Buying/selling skill and product knowledge
• Ability and willingness to work in all areas of the business
• Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
• Sense of teamwork as well as independent initiative required
• Must be able to travel within assigned region and other areas as needed
• Must have effective listening and verbal skills to identify important information and to engage with internal and external customers

Your Education

• Bachelors degree preferred
