Job description

Overview

The Account Manager (AM) plays a crucial role in managing accounts and standard projects independently, ensuring they are completed on budget, on schedule, and to the required specifications. This role is essential in meeting the organization’s KPIs and consistently fulfilling clients’ expectations. Additionally, AMs may support larger, more complex accounts and projects under the guidance of senior team members.


Responsibilities

Five core responsibilities underpin the role of the AM:

  1. Client Management: Building strong client relationships to support account growth and assist in maintaining Key Account Plans (KAPs). Responsibilities include developing KAPs, maintaining client engagement, building relationships, supporting scope of work development, sharing insights, seeking client feedback, maintaining communication, updating CRM, and traveling as needed.
  2. Strategic and Commercial Insight: Working with Medical / CS Account Leads to develop trusted advisory relationships, understanding the client’s broader environment, and ensuring the implementation of frameworks and knowledge of the industry and services.
  3. Account Team Leadership: Ensuring smooth account delivery through project management, leading meetings, tracking timelines and finances, fostering collaboration, and ensuring adherence to internal processes and compliance standards.
  4. Business Maintenance: Identifying organic growth opportunities within existing accounts, developing proposals, and implementing engagement plans to sustain and grow accounts.
  5. Financial/KPI Accountability: Supporting the achievement of financial targets, understanding organizational metrics, assisting with data and reporting, and helping secure project conversions and growth.
Qualifications and Prerequisites
  • Degree minimum (life science degree advantageous) or demonstrable experience in medical communications or pharmaceutical industry. Fluency in English; additional languages beneficial.
  • 2+ years’ experience in healthcare communications agencies, preferably medical communications.
  • Client relationship skills, experience managing small accounts or multiple projects, understanding KPI measurement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, AI tools, and digital/omnichannel knowledge.
