Job summary

Rystad Energy seeks an Account Executive to expand relationships within the Financial Sector, mainly in the Southern United States, with national travel and occasional international trips. Based in the Houston, TX office, you will drive new business while leveraging our research analysts and product experts.

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of new business development/account executive/sales experience in market intelligence focused on the financial sector.
  • Negotiating with procurement and/or senior management.
  • Selling research, data, software or consulting services.
  • Account management best practices and new business generation skills.
  • Experience with energy-focused data and subscription software sales highly desirable.
  • Goal oriented self-starter that can work independently, as part of a team and pull in resources as required.
  • Building value propositions for databases based on personas and company types.
  • Ability to quickly and effectively build new networks.
  • Using MS Office, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and CRM systems.
  • Sales pipeline management and forecasting.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and exceed KPIs to deliver on an annual sales target.
  • Develop new client relationships throughout the sales cycle across North America.
  • Present the company, research and services at conferences.
  • Understand client needs and build a value proposition.
  • Network at industry events to expand brand.

  • Communicate with research, sales and management on activities and results.

Job description

The Role

Rystad Energy is a leading independent research, data, and consulting firm focused on the global energy industry. The Account Executive will focus on expanding Rystad’s relationships with existing clients in Financial Sector – predominantly in Southern United States. This includes a wide range of clients, including institutional investors (private equity, asset managers, hedge funds, etc.), investment banking and equity research institutions, insurance companies, among others. Candidate must have exceptional account management capabilities with a goal of retaining and growing our existing client base – as well as opportunities to participate in new business and land new logos. As part of the sales team, the role holder can expect the support of our global client-facing research analysts and product specialists.

Strong negotiation skills, knowledge of the global energy sector – oil & gas and renewables, experience in selling market intelligence services, a consultative selling approach, product demonstrations and excellent networking skills are sought. The role holder is expected to be able to network with Managing Directors and the C‑suite. Travel will be expected nationally with occasional international trips. Location for this role will be based out of the firm’s Houston, TX office.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain and exceed KPIs to deliver on an annual sales target
  • Develop new client relationships throughout the entire sales cycle, from lead origination through execution of the first contract, with prospective clients in the Investment Banking, Private Equity, Asset Management and other parts of the financial sector across North America.
  • Present the company, our research and services in person at conferences
  • Understand the core needs of each client and build an effective value proposition
  • Network at industry events to expand our brand
  • Manage interactions through the company’s CRM system
  • Communicate internally with research, sales colleagues and management on activities and results
  • Provide feedback and suggestions on product enhancement and new product ideas
  • Ensure new products and services are on‑boarded properly
  • Up to 50% travel
Skills & Experience
  • 4 - 6 years of new business development/account executive/sales experience in market intelligence focused on the financial sector

  • Using standard Microsoft Office tools, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and CRM systems
  • Sales pipeline management and robust forecasting
  • Communicate internally with research, sales colleagues and management on actives and results
  • Provide feedback and suggestions on product enhancement and new product ideas
  • Ensure new products and services are on‑boarded properly
  • Manage the right activities to deliver on an annual sales target
