My client are seeking a highly motivated Account Director to join their medical communications team (medical affairs and commercial). In this role, you will be responsible for managing client accounts, developing strategic communication plans, and delivering high-quality medical content that aligns with client objectives. You will collaborate with internal teams to ensure the successful execution of client work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships.
  • Provide strategic counsel and guidance to clients on medical communications, ensuring alignment with their business goals.
  • Lead client meetings, including presentations and updates, to communicate project progress and new opportunities.
  • Oversee the planning, development, and execution of medical communication strategies and deliverables across various channels, including print, digital, congresses, and educational initiatives.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Work closely with internal teams (creative, medical, regulatory, digital, etc.) to ensure smooth project delivery and integration of client feedback.
  • Lead and mentor a team of account managers, medical writers, and project coordinators to execute communication strategies.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, providing clear direction and support to team members.
  • Foster a collaborative environment to drive the best results for the client and the agency.
  • Work with clients to define and refine their communication objectives and strategies.
  • Provide strategic input on scientific and medical content, ensuring that it is clear, accurate, and compelling.
  • Ensure that all communications are compliant with industry regulations and ethical standards, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Manage project budgets, ensuring all expenses are tracked and remain within the allocated budget.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and reports for clients, ensuring transparency and accountability in billing and financial management.
  • Identify opportunities for expanding client accounts by proposing new services or additional projects.
  • Assist with proposals, pitches, and presentations to prospective clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Communications, Marketing, or related field. Master’s or advanced degree in a scientific or medical field is a plus.
  • 6-10 years of experience in medical communications, healthcare marketing, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a management or account director role.
  • Proven experience working with pharmaceutical or healthcare clients and a strong understanding of the regulatory environment in medical communications.
  • Experience in overseeing large, complex projects, with an ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to translate complex scientific information into accessible and engaging content.
  • Solid understanding of the medical communications landscape, including digital, social media, and traditional medical communications channels.
  • Proficient in project management tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
