Job summary

San Diego State University seeks an Accommodations Counselor to support students in accessing resources and accommodations. Through individualized advising, counseling, and case management, you will help navigate disability-related needs and develop practical strategies for participation in the university experience.

The role evaluates documentation, determines eligibility, coordinates support across housing, technology, testing, and health services, and collaborates with faculty and campus

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with related coursework.
• Three years of progressively responsible student services work experience.
• Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; doctorate may substitute for three years.

Responsibilities

• Provide counseling, advising, intake, case management, and follow-up for students with disabilities.
• Evaluate disability documentation and determine eligibility and accommodations.
• Develop individualized support and strategies addressing barriers to progress.
• Coordinate referrals across advising, housing, technology, testing, and health services.
• Consult with faculty and campus partners about accommodation responsibilities.
• Handle complex or sensitive cases with professional judgment.
• Engage in outreach and initiatives to promote accessibility and universal access.
