Job summary

San Diego State University is seeking an Accommodations Counselor within Student Disability Services to support students with disabilities. You will provide counseling, intake, and case management, evaluate documentation, and coordinate university-wide accommodations across housing, technology, testing, and more.

The role requires collaboration with faculty and staff to resolve access needs, maintain compliance with ADA/FERPA, and promote inclusive learning.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college; counseling techniques experience preferred.
• Three years of progressively responsible student services work experience typically required.
• Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; doctorate may substitute for three years in certain roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized counseling, advising, intake, case management, and follow-up for students with disabilities.
• Evaluate disability documentation to determine eligibility and accommodations.
• Develop and implement individualized support and case-management strategies.
• Coordinate referrals for academic advising, financial aid, assistive tech, testing, housing, and health services.
• Consult with faculty and campus partners on accommodation responsibilities and access needs.
• Handle complex or sensitive situations by gathering information and coordinating next steps.
• Participate in documentation review, outreach, and accessibility initiatives.
