Job summary

The Accessioning Technician I at DOCS Dermatology Group supports the lab’s specimen life cycle by sorting incoming specimens and documenting them accurately in the LIS, working with the grossing team to prepare slide materials.

Minimum: High School Diploma. Data entry or billing experience and medical terminology knowledge are preferred. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k matching, company-paid life insurance, EAP, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Data entry or billing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sort incoming specimens.
• Document shipments and contents, tracking errors.
• Verify requisition data matches the information on specimen bottle.
• Log patient and specimen data in LIS (ClearPath/Intellipath).
• Prepare slides and deliver to grossing team.
• Enter DIF immunofluorescence data into Mayo Clinic Database when applicable.
• Sign off on emptied specimen bags.
• Provide couriers with materials to transport between lab and clinics.
