Job Description And Duties

Do you enjoy partnering with others to turn accessibility principles into real-world technical solutions? If so, this may be the opportunity for you.
The Accessibility Compliance Team (ACT) is seeking an Information Technology Specialist II to serve as a technical lead in advancing accessibility across CalPERS digital services. In this role, you will champion accessible, user-centered design and help bridge the gap between front-end user experience and developer implementation. You will collaborate with business partners, designers, developers, and other stakeholders to guide accessibility solutions from concept through design, build, test, and implementation. This position plays a key role in helping CalPERS deliver inclusive digital experiences that support compliance, improve usability, and expand access for the people we serve.

Telework Information

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship. CalPERS does not participate in E-Verify for employment authorization purposes.

Effective July 1, 2025, The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee shall receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly. The salary range(s) included in the job advertisement do not reflect the 3 percent reduction in pay.

In your response, explain the scope of the effort, your role in guiding the work, the stakeholders involved, the technologies or platforms impacted, the challenges you encountered, and the outcome.
  • This position requires translating accessibility requirements into practical implementation. Describe a situation where you worked with business partners, designers, developers, or other stakeholders to resolve an accessibility issue or improve accessibility in a product, application, or service. In your response, describe how you communicated the issue, built consensus, addressed barriers, and supported implementation. Include the technologies, systems, or applications involved.
