Community College of Baltimore County is seeking an adjunct class assistant across campuses to support students with academic progress and independence. This as-needed role has no guaranteed hours and requires scheduling flexibility.
Responsibilities include taking legible notes, describing charts and tables, and assisting students with accessible online materials, with duties tailored to individual disability needs. Part-time benefits apply as listed.
The purpose of this class is to assist students in their academicprogress and in developing skills to be independent learners.
1. High School diploma and 12 college credits with GPA of 2.5 orhigher. Completion of all developmental education coursework, ifapplicable.
2. Placement at or above the reading, English, or math levelequivalent to or exceeding requirements for course taken bystudent.
3. Experience working with students with disabilities desirable
Positions are located on all campuses:
Essex, Dundalk, Catonsville, Hunt Valley, Randallstown, and OwingsMills
This is an as-needed position with no guaranteed number of hoursper week. Shifts are scheduled based on departmental needs,staffing coverage, and service demand. Hours may vary and mayinclude daytime and/or evening and weekend assignments. Employeesare expected to maintain reasonable scheduling flexibility andcommunicate their availability in advance.
1. Accurately and thoroughly take legible notes that clearlyreflect material from the instructor's lecture for the assignedclass.
2. Read class material or tests to the assigned student with cleararticulation, using correct pronunciation and reflecting thepunctuation used in text, describing charts graphs, and tables asnecessary.
3. Assist students with accessing online/web based material that isnot otherwise accessible through the use of assistive technologyand software, by accurately reading and describing graphs, table,and charts, as necessary.
4. Accurately and objectively record student's answers to classroomwritten materials or tests, without editing student's work.
5. Use technology as required for note taking, editing, and ortests.
6. Regularly submit notes, work logs, and time cards according todepartment procedures
7. Address and resolve problems related to these duties withstudents in a professional manner, communicating appropriately withDSS staff.
8. Specific Responsibilities of each assistant will vary based onthe disability needs of the student to whom they areassigned.
