The Office of Accessibility, a unit reporting through the Provost’sOffice at Auburn University, is seeking a proactive, collaborative,and thoughtful colleague to function as an AccessibilityAccommodation Specialist. The individual selected will engagestudents with disabilities in an interactive process to developaccommodation plans, provide support for a caseload of students,refer students to appropriate campus resources, and provideeducation and training to campus and community partners.

Responsibilities

• Conducts intake meetings and assists students with disabilitiesto include (but not limited to) determining eligibility foraccommodations, types of accommodations needed, and orientingstudents to programs and resources available.
• Coordinates services and accommodation for students in order tomeet individual needs based on documented disabilities.
• Recommends and provides training for appropriate assistivetechnologies for students with disabilities.
• May lead and/or participate in programs, workshops, and/orpresentations concerning the Office of Accessibility and studentswith disabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Special Educationor a related field and 4 years of experience in administeringservices for people with disabilities to include identifying andimplementing academic accommodations.

SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED FOR EXPERIENCE: Yes, When a candidate has therequired education, but lacks the required experience, they maynormally apply additional appropriate education toward theexperience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevanteducation per year of required experience.
