Fairfield University in Connecticut seeks a qualified individual to support Access Services at the DiMenna-Nyselius Library. This role supervises student employees, assists patrons, and ensures smooth operations in the absence of a head of Access Services or Reserves Specialist.
Essential duties include overseeing main service point, training staff, handling circulation policies, and coordinating building access, while maintaining security and facilities functions as needed.
DIVISION: Academic; UNIT: DiMenna-Nyselius Library; BASIC FUNCTION: Supports a variety of Access Services and clerical procedures. Assists library patrons in the use of library materials, facilities, and equipment. Supervises and trains student employees. Manages Access Services operations in absence of Head of Access Services or Access Services & Reserves Specialist.
Physical requirements: mobility; must be able to lift materials off shelf. Requires some evening and weekend hours.
Associate degree or equivalent required.
One-year previous library or related experience. Demonstrated computer literacy. Demonstrated knowledge of integrated library systems. Supervisory and communication skills are required. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Assisting with the supervision of approximately 30 student assistants.
