Job summary

University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a skilled Access/Security Technician to install, maintain and troubleshoot low voltage electrical systems for building access and security equipment on campus. Roles span Technician I–IV with progressive responsibilities in commissioning, programming, and documentation.

The position requires lifting up to 50 lbs, ladder work, a valid driver’s license, and Nebraska electrical licensure or the ability to obtain it.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent experience.
• Able to lift 50 lbs and work from ladder/aerial equipment.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and meet university driver requirements.
• State of Nebraska Apprentice Electrical License or ability to obtain upon employment.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, alter, add, troubleshoot, and repair low voltage electrical systems related to building access and security equipment.
• Interpret schematics and blueprints to complete wiring and device termination in a commercial setting.
• Assist with commissioning and documentation of building access control systems.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in assigned work areas; complete work orders and use electronic timekeeping.
• Test, diagnose, and troubleshoot circuits in low voltage electrical and security systems; provide after-hours on-call support as needed.
