The WI Department of Transportation (WisDOT), Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) is seeking an interested and qualified individual to fill an Access Management Coordinator (Transportation Specialist Advanced) vacancy in the North Central Region! This full-time position will be headquartered in Wisconsin Rapids or Rhinelander, WI. This position offers a hybridized work schedule. The position will be headquartered at and required to work from one of the DTSD North Central Region office buildings at least 2 days per week. All employees working a hybrid work schedule are generally expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin. This topic will be discussed more at the time of the interview.

This position serves as the North Central Region (NCR) access management coordinator, providing expertise in the application, maintenance, and implementation of access control measures on the State Trunk Highway System. This position organizes and completes duties within established time frames and in general accordance with policies, previous training, and accepted practices of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). This position has direct regular contact with officials from local units of government, other agency’s staff, land surveyors, and private developers and their consultants. Under the general supervision of the NCR Planning Supervisor and guidance of a Region Access Engineer, this position applies technical knowledge and good judgment in work assignments. This position works closely with other NCR Planning staff to complete access management duties and will be required to complete multiple assignments simultaneously. Work assignments will be split between the two Access Management Coordinator positions by assigned geographical areas, with each position being assigned several work duties simultaneously. This position develops and maintains access controls on the State Trunk Highway System with respect to controlled access projects, access requests and subdivision plat submittals, and the Improvement Program.

This position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $68,640-$93,600, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
Occasional travel may be required to complete field reviews, attend meetings with local municipalities to discuss/present access and corridor studies, and attend meetings with regional, division, department, and agency staff.

Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.
