Position Responsibilities and Qualifications
Summary of Job Duties

The Access Coordinator III acts as a patient resource for all scheduling and billing questions, facilitates comprehensive patient data collection, ensures timely and accurate billing, collects payments, facilitates scheduling, and manages conflicts. Must perform all duties of the Access Coordinator I & II levels and support patient care activities as needed.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Three (3) years of experience in registration, billing, or scheduling in a healthcare environment
  • Ability to perform all duties of the Access Coordinator I and II levels
  • Basic proficiency with computers and data entry
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) Certification
  • Experience with external radiology testing
  • Knowledge of CPT codes and/or medical terminology
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Familiarity with office machines (printers, scanners)
  • Good communication skills
  • Telephone etiquette
  • Excellent customer service skills
Additional Responsibilities
  • Schedule, reschedule, and coordinate appointments
  • Process walk-ins, create patient charts, access systems for orders
  • Perform ABN completion, schedule surgeries/tests
  • Conduct insurance verification and benefits explanation
  • Enter benefit and authorization info
  • Maintain initial care plans and record statistics
  • Collect and post payments, issue receipts
  • Manage reconciliation of funds and deposits
  • Counsel patients on financial matters
  • Perform authorizations for radiology tests and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
