Job summary

The Access Coordinator position at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (ICE | CORE PA Float) provides comprehensive support for patient care activities. You may greet the public, answer calls, coordinate appointments, referrals and tests, and assist with registrations and payments while ensuring insurance verification and third-party requirements are met.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED with 2 years of customer service or healthcare experience.
  • Basic proficiency with computers and data entry; MS Office preferred.
  • CHAA certification is preferred for the role.
  • Knowledge of CPT codes and medical terminology is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule patient appointments, follow-ups, imaging and diagnostic tests.
  • Coordinate pre-op and post-op visits for neurosurgery or other procedures.
  • Work with providers to manage complex care plans across specialties (neurology, radiology, physical therapy, etc.).
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for procedures, imaging, or referrals.
  • Communicate with insurance companies and patients regarding coverage issues or delays.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and clinical teams.
  • Provide patients with instructions related to appointments, procedures, or referrals.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Summary of Job Duties:

The Access Coordinator works under supervision and provides comprehensive support for the patient care activities. This position may meet, greet, and assists the public, answer telephones and/or may coordinate appointments, referrals, consults, tests and/or procedures, check-in and registers patients, check-out patients, and collects payments and issues receipts, verifies insurance coverage and responds appropriately to the requirements of third-party payers.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GEDplus 2 yeas' customer service or healthcare experience.
  • Must be able to perform all duties of the Access Coordinator I and II level
  • Basic proficiency with computers and data entry (MS Office preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Health-careAccess Associate (CHAA) Certification
  • Experience with external radiology testing
  • Knowledge with CPT codes and/or medical terminology
  • Three (3) years of experience in registration, billing, or scheduling in a health-careenvironment
