Job description

Overview of Access Coordinator

The Access Coordinator is a year-round position working with a dynamic team of professionals who ensure equal access and equal opportunity for PNW students with documented disabilities in a fast-paced, multi-campus environment. The Access Coordinator will ensure access and highly specialized support for students with documented disabilities at PNW.

Pay
  • $44,500
Schedule
  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (30 minute lunch)
  • Occasional evenings and weekends - sometimes schedule flexing is available
Duties and Responsibilities of Access Coordinator
  • Collaborate with people of all socioeconomic and educational backgrounds in a respectful and diplomatic manner. This includes families, faculty, staff, and outside experts to ensure accommodations are being appropriately provided.
  • Work closely with the Director, Access Coordinators, and the Technology Specialist on the Student Review Team to support students.
  • Meet with students and parents to assess and review disability documentation, determine accommodations, prepare or update Access Plans, consult with faculty to ensure accommodations are provided appropriately and confidentially.
  • Provide intensive compensatory strategy interventions under the name of Academic Coaching on both campuses - in person and via Zoom on a regular basis.
  • Work with the entire PAC team to ensure consistent practices and policies are utilized.
  • Proctor accommodated tests and quizzes to ensure each student receives the appropriate individualized accommodations and work with staff to ensure that all tests are secured, scheduled, proctored, and returned with integrity and in a timely manner.
  • Track student progress and intervene as needed, provide support, update Access Plans.
  • Collaborate with Dean of Students Office, TRIO, Advising, Tutoring, Housing, First Gen Office, Student Success Hub, Registrar, Counseling Center, Athletics, Career Center, and other student facing offices.
  • Refer to other resources on and off campus as needed.
  • Engage in outreach and education activities on PNW campuses on a regular basis and in the community as needed.

Education of Access Coordinator
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's preferred
  • Course work may include: Special education, education, counseling, or social work
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered
Experience of Access Coordinator
  • Two years’ experience working with students with disabilities

  • Ability to remain calm and encouraging in a fast-paced chaotic environment
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication and judgment skills
  • Ability to independently problem solve, follow directions, complete projects, manage case load effectively, accurately document in a timely manner in AIM, and be a supportive team member
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Willingness to learn and follow Section 504 and ADAAA requirements for higher education, office procedures, practices, guidelines, protocols, and university policies
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; learn and utilize AIM the PAC database, ability to perform all functions of the office independently consistent with PAC mission, vision, philosophy, and protocol
  • Experience with assistive technology, preferred
  • Ability to arrive at required location independently, whether on or off campus.
