Qualifications

Overview of Academic and Student Success Advisor

The Student Academic Support Department at Purdue University Northwest (PNW) is seeking an Academic and Student Success Advisor to join their team. The primary purpose of the Academic and Student Success Advisor is to provide individual, appreciative, and transformational advising to students on matters such as selection of major, course selection and sequencing, and academic performance. The advisor is essential to impacting the retention and success of Purdue University Northwest students. The advisor will proactively reach out to targeted populations and maintain current and accurate records documenting individual student progress toward degree requirements while utilizing resources to support and strengthen communication and outreach with the assigned population of students. The Academic and Student Success Advisor will also discuss with and refer students to the support services offered throughout campus and consistently provide a positive environment which assists students in their personal and academic growth and development.

Salary
  • 51,000
Schedule
  • Monday - Friday; Additional support may be asked occasionally for student support
Duties and Responsibilities of Academic and Student Success Advisor
  • Provide general advising to students, and utilize software applications including Navigate, Slate, Degree Works, Cognos, and UniTime Scheduling Assistant
  • Assist students with course recommendations and degree planning
  • Consistently fill out appointment summaries and document student interactions
  • Participate in recruitment activities hosted by the college or unit

Education of Academic and Student Success Advisor
  • Master's Degree Required
Experience of Academic and Student Success Advisor
  • Minimum of three years of advising experience
  • Professional work experience within a public higher education setting in an academic advising and/or retention-related position preferred
