Job summary

KCI Telecommunications is seeking a Lead Access Control / Security Systems Technician to support projects in the Charlotte, NC and Rock Hill, SC markets. You will lead a crew on-site while installing access control systems, security cameras, and low-voltage cabling under the Foreman.

This role requires hands-on installation, ability to read project drawings, mentor junior technicians, and maintain quality, safety, and schedule.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of relevant low-voltage, access control, security, or structured cabling experience.
• Prior lead or mentoring experience strongly preferred.
• Hands-on security camera and door access installation experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret project drawings and installation plans.
• Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments and traveling locally.

Responsibilities

Lead Access Control / Security Systems Technician

Location: Charlotte, NC / Rock Hill, SC area

Schedule: Primarily 1st shift, with some flexibility required

Job Overview

KCI Telecommunications is seeking Lead Access Control / Security Systems Technicians to support ongoing and upcoming projects throughout the Charlotte, NC and Rock Hill, SC markets.

We're looking for experienced technicians who can lead a crew on-site while staying hands-on with installing access control systems, security cameras, and low-voltage cabling. Leads work under the Foreman to keep crews productive, installs accurate, and projects on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Lead a crew of technicians on-site: assign daily tasks, track progress, and keep installs on schedule
• Install and mount security cameras and associated equipment
• Install door access and access control systems
• Perform low-voltage and structured cabling installation as required
• Pull, route, dress, and terminate cabling
• Support inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) installations
• Assist with physical security and perimeter security system installations
• Perform camera aiming and adjustments as required
• Quality-check installs, terminations, and camera aiming before handoff
• Read and follow project drawings, installation plans, and site requirements, and walk the crew through them
• Mentor and support developing technicians in the field
• Communicate progress, issues, and material needs to the Foreman and PM
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, and model safe work practices for the crew

Experience programming or configuring security systems is a strong plus.

Qualifications

• 3 5+ years of relevant low-voltage, access control, security, or structured cabling experience
• Prior experience as a lead, or leading or mentoring other technicians, strongly preferred
• Hands-on security camera and door access installation experience required
• Structured cabling experience is a plus
• Strong ability to read and interpret project drawings and installation plans
• Ability to use standard hand and power tools associated with low-voltage installation
• Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments
• Ability to travel to project sites throughout the Charlotte / Rock Hill region
• Reliable transportation required
• Ability to work primarily first shift, with flexibility when project schedules require it

Tools & PPE

Technicians should bring their own basic low-voltage hand tools and tool bag. Larger equipment and specialty tools will be available on-site as required.

Safety & Screening Requirements

Additional site-specific PPE will be provided as required.

• OSHA 10 certification or equivalent required
• Must be able to successfully complete a 10-year background check
• Must be able to successfully complete a 10-panel drug screening
