Job summary

IDS International is seeking an Access Control Specialist (ACS) with a Secret Clearance to support secure construction operations in Annapolis Junction, MD. The role focuses on controlling access, screening personnel and materials, patrolling, and ensuring CSP compliance in secure environments.

The ACS will document security incidents, coordinate with CSTs for deliveries, and maintain strict access control at all times in line with the SOW and Guard Orders.

Join IDS International’s National Security Servicesteam supporting secure & mission-critical environments.

The Access Control Specialist (ACS) supports secure construction operations by controlling access to facilities hosting or preparing to host U.S. Government information. This role is responsible for managing access control points, screening personnel and materials, conducting patrols, and ensuring compliance with the Construction Security Plan (CSP). The ACS operates within a secure construction environment and is responsible for identifying and reporting security incidents in accordance with established escalation procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Control and monitor access to secure construction areas and verify badges and authorizations
• Inspect personnel, materials, and equipment in accordance with CSP and Post Orders
• Conduct interior and exterior patrols and document all activity
• Identify, document, and report security incidents, discrepancies, or power loss

Required Qualifications

• Clearance: Active Secret clearance required
• Citizenship: U.S. Citizen
• Age: 21 years or older *Note this is a government, not a company, requirement

Required Experience

• Experience in access control or security for classified facilities or construction sites
• Ability to control access points and screen personnel and materials
• Ability to conduct walking patrols and maintain security presence
• Ability to complete security documentation and reports
• Ability to conduct extended walking patrols

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout secure facilities for extended periods of time
• Position may require occasional lifting and/or movement of moderate amounts of weight, depending on assignment requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Construction Security Plans (CSP), incident reporting, and patrol tracking systems preferred.

Work Schedule & Conditions

• Standard Schedule: Monday–Sunday
• GuaranteedHours: 48 hours per week across 4–5 days (dependent on shift)
• Overtime: Some overtime available based on client needs
• Flexibility Requirement: Must be available to support weekend shifts on a rotating schedule

Compensation & Benefits

• Rate: $ 30.00 per hour
• Benefits: Health, 401(k), PTO & Sick Leave, and Paid Holidays are available to all W2 employees of IDS
• *Adjusted hourly rates and daily per diem may be available for non-local and/or travel assignments

Employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 20 pounds, but may vary depending on the position. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
