Job summary

Parabit Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to install, configure, commission, and maintain commercial access control systems.

The role covers controllers, card readers, door hardware, IP networking, and related low-voltage wiring, with additional support for kiosks, digital signage, and surveillance systems. The candidate will troubleshoot wiring, power, device communication, and software issues, while coordinating with customers and IT staff.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years hands-on experience with commercial access control systems.
• Knowledge of wiring, controllers, card readers, door hardware, and commissioning.
• Experience troubleshooting device, wiring, power, network, configuration, and software issues.
• Familiarity with electric strikes, magnetic locks, electrified exit devices.
• Experience pulling, terminating, labeling, and testing low-voltage cable per codes.
• TCP/IP networking knowledge; basic IP configuration.
• Ability to use hand/power tools and ladders in field installs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to document work clearly.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and mobile apps, dispatch systems, and electronic forms.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform field duties.
• Willingness to travel across the assigned territory and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, commission, inspect, maintain, and repair access control systems.
• Work with panels, readers, credentials, door hardware, and related components.
• Diagnose and resolve wiring, power, device communication, and network issues.
• Verify locking, monitoring, and life-safety operation of openings.
• Pull, terminate, label, test, and document low-voltage cabling per codes.
• Install/replace door locks, exit devices, and related hardware.
• Configure IP addresses and network settings on devices; coordinate with IT.
• Conduct site surveys and attend project coordination meetings as needed.
• Provide on-site, phone, and remote technical support; train end-users.
• Complete service reports, photos, time records, and other docs accurately.
• Maintain inventory and company tools and vehicle in good condition.
• Work independently and with customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Participate in on-call support and after-hours service requests.
• Follow OSHA, safety rules, and local/national codes.
