Job summary

Rochester Regional Health is seeking an organized patient registration representative for Unity Perinatal Medicine to interview patients, collect registration data, verify insurance eligibility, and arrange precertifications. Responsibilities

• Answering incoming calls and providing necessary information.
• Greeting patients or representatives and directing them as needed.
• Scheduling and/or prescheduling patient appointments.
• Interviewing patients to collect required registration data and complete registration.
• Identify services with no payment source and communicate financial assistance options.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain precertifications/authorizations when applicable.
• Collect and process co-pays and other payments; provide cost estimates.
• Ensure data accuracy and compliance with departmental policies.
• Communicate with payers, physician offices, and other departments.
• Set up new patient records in Care Connect; interpret when needed.

SUMMARY

In a customer service oriented manner, interviews patients and/or their representative to collect required registration data, to include but is not limited to; demographic and financial data as well as obtain required signatures, communicates mandated patient information and verifies all information for accuracy. Process includes but is not limited to insurance verification, obtaining precertification/authorization, co-payment collection and communicating with patient and/or their representative with regards to their financial assistance needs.

LOCATION: Unity Perinatal Medicine

SCHEDULE: 40 hrs/week

• 2 year degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred
• Intermediate computer skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate degree preferred
• One year of customer service experience preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manages incoming calls while providing necessary information.

• Identification of services where no payment source has been identified to be followed up by communication of financial assistance and/or payment arrangements.
• Verification of insurance eligibility/coverage and obtaining necessary precertifications/authorizations when applicable.
• Collecting/processing co-payments, deductables and/or other types of payments. Provides an estimate of cost when applicable.
• Reviews charges in charge review WQs for completeness and accuracy.
• Ensures the accuracy of all data collected while meeting the regulatory requirements as outlined by the departmental policy.
• Communication with external customers such as but not limited to; payers, physician offices and other departments.
• Accurately sets up new patient record via Care Connect.
• If qualified, may be asked to interpret on occasion.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• RGMG Only: Flexibility and transportation to other medical group locations or other affiliated locations required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
