Job summary

Fort Mill School District seeks a dedicated technology support staff member to provide first-response technical assistance for classrooms and school sites. You will help teachers and students with hardware, software, and web-based tools, while managing mobile devices and inventory.

You will collaborate with other technology staff to ensure network performance and security, assist with the district website and Parent Portal, and support year-end technology procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required or equivalent.
  • Experience in an education environment preferred.
  • Ability to assist teachers and students with technology tools.
  • Experience with a range of computer hardware/software in a networked environment; willingness to learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-response technical support for workstations, laptops, printers, SmartBoards, iPads, Chromebooks, and other peripherals.
  • Maintain files, backups, report print-outs, and technology inventory.
  • Complete beginning and end-of-year technology procedures.
  • Help manage mobile devices and keep them ready for student use.
  • Assist with school website and Parent Portal.
  • Install and troubleshoot software applications with attention to licenses and end-user needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Assist front office personnel as needed.
  • Collaborate with technology staff to maintain network performance and security.
  • Participate in meetings to discuss the district's technology plan.

  • Wide range of computer hardware and software experience in a networked environment and a willingness to learn new and emerging technologies as they are introduced to the schools.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with staff and students on a variety of technology tools, including productivity suites, learning applications, and web-based software.
  • Demonstrate organization skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to physically lift and carry technology equipment (approximately 40 lbs.)

Job Goal:

To help provide a well-organized, conducive environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program, instructional materials, and technology.

Job Performance Responsibilities
  • Provide first-response technical support, including testing and troubleshooting workstations, laptops, printers, SmartBoards, iPads, Chromebooks, audio systems and other peripherals.
  • Maintain all files, backups, report print-outs, and technology inventory.
  • Complete all beginning and end-of-year technology procedures.
  • Help manage mobile devices and keep them ready for student use.
  • Assist with school website and Parent Portal.
  • Install, test, and troubleshoot software applications, being conscious of software requirements, license restrictions, and end user needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Assisting front office personnel, as needed.
  • Work with other technology staff to maintain optimal network performance and security.
  • Participate in meetings as required, offering insight and direction to the use of technology as it relates to the district’s technology plan
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Terms of Employment:

190-day contract, S5 Salary Schedule, 7 hours per day Employment: Non-Exempt position.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
