Job summary

UMass Amherst School of Public Health & Health Sciences seeks an Academic Success Advisor to advise undeclared and exploratory track students, support 4+1 pathways, and collaborate with departmental advisors to promote student success.

You will work with first-year and at-risk students, develop academic plans, interpret degree requirements, and assist with major declarations, NSO activities, and advising resources in a hybrid Amherst setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in academic advising, counseling, student support, or related roles.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Experience with academic advising, student support, or related roles.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice, with confidentiality in handling student data.

Responsibilities

• Advise diverse incoming class of first-year, undeclared, exploratory track, and transfer students.
• Counsel students on registration, degree requirements, and major/minor selection.
• Support 4+1 advising for undergrad to grad transitions.
• Provide proactive interventions for at-risk students and returning from suspension.
• Collaborate with campus departments and support services to connect students with resources.
• Coordinate NSO events and advising activities and maintain academic resources.
