Job summary

Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT seeks an Academic Advisor to proactively guide traditional undergraduate students in academic planning, registration, and engagement with campus resources. The Advisor collaborates with departments and mentors, teaches portions of the First Year Seminar, and supports student well‑being, retention, and degree completion.

This in‑person, full‑time role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and a commitment to inclusive, student‑centered

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, higher education, or related field.
  • Two years of academic advising experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to work with a diverse student body.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and database management; familiarity with Colleague/Navigate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with new and returning students to develop and monitor education plans.
  • Provide information on academic and personal support resources.
  • Collaborate with faculty mentors and help with college success initiatives.
  • Serve as liaison among business, registrar, and financial aid offices.
  • Teach sections of the First Year Seminar as needed.
  • Participate in orientation events and student success activities.
