Job summary

Western Kentucky University seeks an engaged academic advisor to support advising policies and initiatives across the campus. You will advise students on majors within WKU's five colleges, collaborate with faculty and staff to improve advising for first and second-year students, and assist with TOP orientation planning and pre-registration for incoming freshmen.

You will also provide proactive advising and referrals, maintain advising records, and work with Career Coaches to help students craft

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Experience providing academic assistance at the collegiate level.
• Strong advising and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the advising policies and initiatives of the University.
• Advise students for majors within WKU's five academic colleges.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to improve advising for 1st and 2nd year students.
• Assist in planning TOP orientation activities and pre-registration for incoming freshmen.
• Advise students based on 5th Week Check-In assessment and provide proactive advising and referrals.
• Work with Career Coaches to help students create academic/career plans.
