Position Overview

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (N.C.A&T) invites applications and nominations for the position ofAcademic Space Planner. University physical space is a valuable resource that supports the University’s academic enterprise. TheAcademic Space Planner will report to the Director for SpacePlanning and Management and will use innovative strategies toanalyze and identify solutions for campus space needs. The positionmust ensure space use is consistent with University strategic goalsand reflect the principles of effective, functional, flexible andefficient use of space.

The Academic Space Planner will perform administrative andtechnical work in conducting short and long range facility spaceand master planning, work flow analysis, space and facility usage,reporting and data management, and project design. This positionwill develop, maintain and oversee an inventory of Universitybuilding and space data through the use of space managementtechnology and other appropriate methods and will be responsiblefor space data assessment and input. This positionwill also assignand classify space according to applicable standards and proceduresconsistent with established guidelines and/or applicablelegislation and will provide space use statistics, customizedanalysis, floor plans and space data to campus departments andUniversity officials.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Institutional Planning, Public Administration,Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, BusinessAdministration, Industrial Technology or a related discipline andtwo years of facility and space planning experience; or anequivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees mustbe received from appropriately accredited institutions.
