Job summary

Alabama State University is seeking an Academic Advisor to build student schedules for SOPH-SR, direct admit, and transfer students. The role uses SIS and EAB Navigate to schedule appointments and track progress, while coordinating with Student Affairs and Academic Success Coordinators.

Eligible candidates have a Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of related experience, plus knowledge of academic coaching, mentoring techniques, and curriculum guidance processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of related experience in academic advising or coaching.
• Knowledge of academic coaching, instructional and mentoring techniques for traditional and online courses.
• Ability to organize and lead group and collaborative activities.

Responsibilities

• Build student schedules for SOPH-SR students, direct admit students, and transfers.
• Use SIS to build schedules
• Manage additions and schedule changes
• Manage student advising meetings
• Set times and appointments
• Use scheduling software and EAB Navigate to schedule and manage appointments
• Interface with EAB Navigate to enter student progress reports after advising appointments
• Track student progress
• Send student referrals for ancillary services (counseling, student accounts, financial aid, etc.)
• Collaborate with Student Affairs to manage second year transition into academic units
• Complete monthly progress reports and submit to Academic Success Coordinators
• Develop student-facing strategies to increase student engagement
• Coordinate advising days/dates/and events
