Job summary

Arkansas State University-Newport's Jonesboro Campus is seeking an Academic Advisor to support students from enrollment through completion. The advisor will build intentional relationships to help students achieve academic, career, and personal goals, using holistic advising approaches and coaching methodologies.

The role will leverage Degree Works and Navigate to develop individualized plans, coordinate with faculty, and refer students to appropriate offices to overcome barriers to success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Two years of experience with college students.
• Ability to relate to students from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain understanding of ASUN programs to assist advisees with degree requirements and scheduling.
• Implement assessment of advising systems using EAB tools (SAP Academic Plans, advising rosters, registration, etc.).
• Ensure caseloads develop individualized academic plans using Degree Works and Navigate.
• Warm handoffs to faculty advisors after 12+ credit hours and coordinate with faculty as needed.
• Coordinate with faculty to manage early alerts and interventions to prevent SAP suspension.
• Assist students on SAP or Academic Probation by referring them to Financial Aid and revising plans.
