Job summary

University of Tampa is seeking an Academic Program Specialist within the Academic Success Center's Peer Support team in Tampa. You will coordinate tutoring programs and supervise student staff, while teaching ASK-100 study skills courses and maintaining program platforms.

You will work closely with the Director and Peer Support team to assess and improve services, participate in outreach, and contribute to a diverse, inclusive campus culture.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in an academic discipline, higher education, or related field from a regionally accredited university.
  • 2+ years working in an academic support capacity in higher education, preferably in a learning center, tutoring or advising functions.
  • Knowledge of FERPA, ADA, and other applicable federal laws.
  • Experience supervising student employees or professional staff.
  • Strong written, oral, interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to set priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate tutoring programs and oversee student staff.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate peer support staff.
  • Collaborate to assess programs, track utilization and implement new initiatives.
  • Assist staff with CRLA certification adherence.
  • Maintain webpages, Canvas and related platforms.
  • Teach ASK-100 study skills courses.
  • Represent ASC at University events and participate in outreach.
  • Assist with appointments, presentations and campus events.
  • Contribute to an inclusive work environment.

Academic Program Specialist, Peer Support R0010859 Tampa

Housed within the Academic Success Center (ASC), Peer Support atThe University of Tampa has an opening for an Academic ProgramSpecialist. This position will work closely with the Director andPeer Support team to coordinate peer tutoring programs. Thisposition will report to the Director of Peer Support.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Director to manage the daily oversight oftutoring programs and student staff.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate peer support staff.
  • Collaborate with Peer Support staff to assessment programs, trackutilization of services, and implement new initiatives.
  • Assist and track student staff through College Reading andLearning Association (CRLA) certification guidelines.
  • Maintain webpages, Canvas site and other platforms associatedwith Peer Support programs.
  • Teach ASK-100 course(s): study skills course that assistsstudents in enhancing college success skills, setting goals, anddeveloping personal responsibility for their academicexperiences.
  • Represent Academic Success Center team at Universityevents.
  • Participate in outreach initiatives to targeted studentpopulations in collaboration with Center staff and campuspartners.
  • Assist with appointments, walk-ins, presentations, Admissionsevents, and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of,respect for, and development of skills to engage with those ofother cultures and backgrounds.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Summer: Monday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Occasional evenings and weekends may be required
