Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking a Pathologists' Assistant to join the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. You will handle gross examination, sampling, and preparation of surgical pathology specimens in a busy academic setting.

You will collaborate with pathologists, residents, and histology staff, and contribute to education and quality initiatives while mentoring learners.

Qualifications

• Must hold a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant degree.
• Licensed or eligible for New York PA licensure.
• Strong knowledge of gross anatomy and surgical pathology.

Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination, description, dissection, and sampling of a broad spectrum of surgical pathology specimens.
• Prepare tissue for intraoperative consultation and frozen sections with pathologists.
• Photograph and document gross specimens and ensure proper orientation and submission.
• Mentor residents and learners in grossing techniques; contribute to academic activities.
• Collaborate with pathologists, residents, histology staff, OR personnel, and lab leadership to improve quality and workflow.
• Engage in quality improvement, procedure development, and education initiatives.

Education

Master's degree from NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant program

New York State PA license (or eligibility)
