Job summary

Albany Medical Center invites applications for a Pathologists' Assistant to support surgical pathology in a busy academic environment. You will work with subspecialty pathologists, residents, and histology staff on a broad range of specimens and procedures.

You will lead gross examination, description, sampling, and documentation while teaching residents and contributing to quality improvement and education initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master's degree from a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant program.
• Current New York State Pathologists' Assistant license or eligibility.
• ASCP PA(ASCP) certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination, description, dissection, and sampling of surgical pathology specimens.
• Prepare tissue for intraoperative consultation and frozen sections with pathologists.
• Photograph and document gross specimens, ensuring proper orientation and submission.
• Mentor residents and learners in grossing techniques; support academic title pursuit.
• Collaborate with pathologists, residents, histology staff, OR personnel, and leadership to improve quality and workflow.
