Job summary

Albany Medical College is seeking fellowship-trained obstetric anesthesiologists at all ranks to join our obstetric anesthesia faculty as we expand care in the Capital Region. Our center is the area’s only academic medical center with Level 1 trauma designation and SOAP COE recognition.

The role involves caring for healthy and high-risk obstetric patients, teaching residents and students, and advancing research in obstetric anesthesia.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree (or equivalent).
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology residency.
• Fellowship training in Obstetric Anesthesiology (required).
• Eligible for New York State medical licensure.
• Board-eligible or board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, or foreign equivalent recognized by the ABAS.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality anesthesia care for parturients in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Deliver didactic and hands-on instruction for residents, medical students, and student nurse anesthetists.
• Participate in or initiate clinical research projects; scholarly activity is supported and encouraged.
• Work closely with obstetricians, OB residents, L&D nurses, and other perioperative team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Provide guidance and support for trainees and junior faculty in professional and academic growth.
