Job summary

Albany Medical College’s Department of Anesthesiology seeks fellowship-trained Obstetric Anesthesiologists to join our expanding obstetric anesthesia faculty. We are the Capital Region’s only academic medical center and Level 1 trauma center with SOAP COE designation.

Our practice includes healthy and high-risk parturients, with opportunities for non-OB procedures and active teaching of residents and medical students. We support clinical research and collaboration to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Fellowship training in Obstetric Anesthesiology is required.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology residency is required.
• Eligible for New York State medical licensure; Board-eligible or board-certified by ABA or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality obstetric anesthesia care for parturients in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Deliver didactic and hands-on instruction for residents, medical students, and student nurse anesthetists.
• Participate in or initiate clinical research projects; scholarly activity is supported and encouraged.
• Work closely with obstetricians, OB residents, L&D nurses, and other perioperative team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Provide guidance and support for trainees and junior faculty in professional and academic growth.

Education

MD or DO degree (or equivalent)

Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology residency

Fellowship training in Obstetric Anesthesiology (required)

Eligible for New York State medical licensure

Board-eligible or board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, or foreign equivalent recognized by the ABAS
