Job summary

Albany Medical College's Department of Anesthesiology seeks fellowship-trained Obstetric Anesthesiologists at all ranks to join our academic obstetric anesthesia faculty as we expand care for obstetric patients in the Capital Region.

We care for both healthy and high-risk parturients, with about 2,500 deliveries annually; we are a SOAP COE and Level 1 trauma center, offering collaborative research, teaching, and patient care opportunities.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required and medical licensure in NY or eligible.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology residency.
• Fellowship training in Obstetric Anesthesiology required.
• Eligible for New York State medical licensure.
• Board-eligible or board-certified by the ABA (or foreign equivalent) recognized by the ABAS.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality anesthesia care for obstetric patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Deliver didactic and hands-on instruction for residents, medical students, and student nurse anesthetists.
• Participate in or initiate clinical research projects; scholarly activity is supported and encouraged.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, OB residents, L&D nurses, and perioperative team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Mentor trainees and junior faculty in professional and academic growth.
