Job summary

Eckerd Connects seeks an Academic Manager to oversee the Academic Department within the Job Corps program in the United States. You will ensure that Job Corps-approved curriculum is taught in classrooms and supervise instructors to maintain high educational standards.

Responsibilities include preparing reports on student progress, maintaining attendance records, developing orientation and ongoing staff training, and coordinating schedules with the Career Technical Training Manager for entering

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Education preferred.
  • Three years teaching or work-related experience preferred; valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Certified to teach in the state of Virginia.
  • Pass a drug screen and nationwide criminal background check are required.

  • Prepares and submits reports; maintains student progress and attendance records using the CIS Attendance Watch report.
  • Develops an orientation program for new instructors and provides in-service training.
  • Collaborates with the Career Technical Training Manager to schedule students and prepare weekly schedules.

Annual Salary: $58,000

Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Academic Manager plans, directs, and supervises the activities of the Academic Department. Ensures Job Corps-approved curriculum is being taught in individual classrooms.
  • Prepares and submits reports as required. Ensures proper records on students' progress, performance, etc. are maintained by the instructors and proper record of students' attendance is maintained by the Academic Department, utilizing the CIS Attendance Watch report.
  • Develops a planned orientation program for new instructors and provides for in-service training of all departmental staff.
  • The Academic Manager jointly, with the Career Technical Training Manager, is responsible for: counseling students about schedules; scheduling entering students and making schedule changes for others; composing, printing, and distributing weekly master schedule, master summary, and students' copies of individual schedules.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Education preferred.
  • Three years teaching or work-related experience preferred; valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Certified to teach in the state of Virginia.
  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.
