Job summary

Eckerd Connects in Washington, DC, is seeking a Dorm Coordinator to oversee dorm operations, supervise resident advisors, and guide students toward developmental goals within program guidelines. You will lead the Career Success Team, generate regular reports, and maintain a safe, orderly, and supportive living environment for assigned youth.

The role requires an Associate degree or two years of related experience, with preference for prior Job Corps exposure and mandated trainings.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred, or two years of related work experience.
  • One year of dormitory management or youth-facing work preferred, with at-risk youth experience.
  • Previous Job Corps experience is a plus.
  • Must complete all mandated trainings per government and management directives.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred and driving record acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operation of assigned dormitory and supervise, counsel, and guide students in compliance with directives.
  • Supervise resident advisors and ensure their support for student needs.
  • Serve as Career Success Team (CST) leader for the dorm.
  • Provide monthly and weekly activity reports to Social Development Director.
  • Maintain order and discipline while promoting self-discipline and consideration for others.
  • Supervise cafeteria, laundry, and events on and off center as assigned.
  • Lead dormitory meetings for planning activities and leadership development.

Annual Salary: $44,000

Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Dorm Coordinator is responsible for the operation of assigned dormitory and for the supervision, counseling and guidance of students assigned dorm in compliance with government and management directives.
  • The Dorm Coordinator supervises resident advisors assigned to the dormitory and ensures that they adequately meet all student needs.
  • Serves as the Career Success Team (CST) leader for their respective dormitory.
  • Provides monthly and weekly activity reports to Social Development Director.
  • Maintains order and discipline in assigned dormitory while encouraging the development of self-discipline and an awareness of others.
  • Provides supervision for the cafeteria, laundry, special activities on and off center, and other program areas as assigned.
  • Oversees dormitory meetings for planning required activities and encourages leadership development.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of an Associate of Art's degree preferred, or two (2) years work-related experience preferred.
  • One year of experience in dormitory management or work-related field working with at-risk youth preferred.
  • Previous Job Corps experience a plus.
  • Able to complete all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.

Additional Requirements: Ability to effectively relate to and communicate with disadvantaged youth. Ability to obtain and maintain CPA/First Aid/AED certification. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Able to read email daily and reply to messages in a timely manner based on urgency and importance. Knowledge of Education and Career Technical Training programs, and local social service and community assistance resources. Ability to inspire and motivate staff. Position requires an ability to operate office equipment. In addition, an individual must be able to interact with team members and maintain an effective working relationship with all facility staff and departments.
