Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking a Librarian I-Academic Liaison for the University Library. You will assist with teaching orientations and research skills to students and patrons, and design instructional content for on-campus library instruction.

The role requires an MLS (ALA-accredited), 2 years of related experience, and strong communication and organizational abilities. Excellent service to diverse patrons is essential; military and vendor interactions may be involved.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited school.
• 2 years of job related experience.
• Computer skills, good verbal and written communication, organizational skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to assist patrons of varying educational levels; and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, students, faculty, staff and elected officials.
• Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Assists with teaching Library orientations and Research Skills to students and public library patrons.
• Assists with teaching coordinated library instruction on campus, as requested by individual instructors and faculty.
• Designs and prepares presentations, handouts and content for Library orientations, Research Skills and coordinated library instruction.
• Interacts with the library patrons to assist them in selecting materials or meeting informational needs.
• Responsible for the library instruction in the absence of the Academic Liaison.
• Responsible of transfers and materials placed on reserve by students, instructors and faculty in the absence of the Academic Liaison.
• Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
