Job summary

Fort Bend County's University Library seeks a Librarian I-Academic Liaison to support library orientations and research skill instruction for students and the public. You will lead presentations, guide patrons, and assist instructors with campus library instruction.

The role requires a Master’s in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program and at least two years of experience, plus strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • MLS from an American Library Association accredited school.
  • 2 years of job related experience.
  • Computer skills, good verbal and written communication, organizational skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to assist patrons of varying educational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with teaching Library orientations and Research Skills to students and public library patrons.
  • Assists with teaching coordinated library instruction on campus, as requested by instructors and faculty.
  • Designs and prepares presentations, handouts and content for Library orientations and Research Skills.
  • Interacts with library patrons to assist them in selecting materials or meeting informational needs.
  • Participates in emergency management duties as directed during local disasters.

Good interpersonal skills and ability to assist patrons of varying educational levels; and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, students, faculty, staff and elected officials.
