Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor a caseload of students within a RTI instructional model.
  • Collaborate with teachers for planning and implementing instructional tasks for individuals or small groups within RTI.
  • Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction and other skills.
  • Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and implement programs.
  • Participate in IEP process and serve as resource for student personnel evaluation team.
  • Assist students with physical or mental disabilities with activities of daily living to maximize participation in school.
  • Follow safety rules and regulations for assisting all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs.
  • May assist in training of other interventionist.

Job description

Academic Interventionist: Salary Range $40-50K

Position Purpose:

  1. The Academic Interventionist's primary purpose is to assist in improving academic achievement of all students in grades K-5.
  2. Work directly with teacher(s) to assist students in reinforcing Reading and Mathematics skills.
  3. Interventionist will also plan, implement, and assess intervention services to ensure fidelity; increase teachers' capacity to effectively implement identified core or universal instructional practices for individual and small groups of students.
  4. Interventionists will work alongside classroom teachers in planning and implementing English/ELA and math intervention initiatives through various intervention programs such as MobyMax and/or Achieve 3000.


Qualifications Profile:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution (an Associate's Degree in Education from an accredited institution or proof of significant coursework related to Education may be considered with teaching experience) and a New Jersey Substitute Teaching License.
  2. Applicants must show evidence of coursework in Mathematics, Computer, English/ELA, Reading, Science and/or Bilingual.
  3. Applicants must demonstrate efficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite and other technology software programs such as Google Apps for Education (GAFE).
  4. Minimum three (3) years of actual work experience working directly with students.
  5. Experience using computer applications/information technology and data to assist and/or facilitate instruction with students.
  6. Understanding of and commitment to implementing academic intervention best practices for students in grades K-5.

  1. Manage and monitor a caseload of students and work within a Response to Intervention (RTI) instructional model
  2. Collaborate with teachers for planning and implementing instructional tasks assigned to individual or small groups of students in a Response to Intervention (RTI) model
  3. Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
  4. Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.
  5. Participates in IEP process and serves as resource for the student personnel evaluation team as needed.
  6. Assist students with physical or mental disabilities with activities of daily living for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities.
  7. Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs.
  8. May assist in the training of other interventionist.
