Job summary

Jumoke Academy Charter School seeks a Math Interventionist to support scholars identified as at risk with targeted math interventions.

You will create lesson plans, deliver small-group instruction, and analyze assessment data (MAP, IAB, etc.) to drive instructional decisions. Collaboration with math and classroom teachers, log scholar service hours, and communicate progress to families are essential parts of the role.

Qualifications

  • CT Certification is required.
  • BA/BS in Education and MA/MS in Education required.
  • 3–5 years of math education or intervention experience.
  • Ability to interpret assessment data to drive instruction.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Job description

Primary Function:The goal of the Math Interventionist is to assist scholars who have been identified as at risk with math intervention to provide a continuum of support and help them get on grade level. The interventionist develops materials and lesson plans, conducts classroom instruction and evaluates and assesses scholar performance. The interventionist lesson plans with math teachers weekly and provides instructional strategies. The interventionist meets with parents, interprets scholar progress, and informs parents/guardians about scholar strengths, weaknesses, and progress by providing assessment results (including NWEA MAP, Smarter Balanced IABs and other assessments). The interventionist collaborates with identified teachers who share the at-risk scholars served and develops a transition plan between the intervention classroom and the regular classroom. The interventionist will attend all SRBI and data team meetings. The interventionist keeps intervention and progress reporting data of all scholars serviced; logs of all scholar service hours and provides a semester report of growth and implemented interventions to principals. The interventionist assists with planning building-based professional development and delivery. The interventionist assists with math-related school events.
TheQualifications
Certification: Appropriate CT Certification
Education: Bachelor of Arts/Science in Education, Master of Arts/Science in
Education.
Experience: At least 3-5 years of applicable experience as a math educator or
interventionist.

General Duties And Performance Responsibilities

  • Shall determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines.
  • Shall present a positive image of the school to parents, and convey to them the schools’ genuine concern with the education, growth, and development of each scholar.
  • Shall seek to establish friendly and cooperative partnerships between home and school.
  • Shall work to develop a positive public relationship between the school district and the community.
  • Shall carry out assignments in a timely manner.
  • Shall react positively to directives.
  • Shall have a willingness to cooperate with the executive director, academic director, district administrators, principals, and staff.
  • Shall maintain the confidentiality, both verbally and in written form, of each scholar’s educational record.
  • Shall strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Shall take necessary precautions to protect scholars, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Shall adhere to School Board of Education Policies and Procedures.

Specific Duties And Responsibilities
  • Shall possess skills at interpretation of assessment data to drive instruction.
  • Shall review data to make instructional decisions to address scholar weaknesses.
  • Shall prepare and deliver focused math intervention instruction in small group setting.
  • Shall possess knowledge in math intervention strategies and actual implementation.
  • Shall utilize instructional management systems and educational software programs which increases scholar learning and maximizes time on task.
  • Shall monitor scholar progress towards achieving instructional objectives and goals on the Intervention Plans or IEPs.
  • Shall be familiar with RTI process and Tiered Instruction.
  • Shall communicate effectively within the educational community and with parents on a regular basis.
  • Shall collaborate with the assigned classroom teacher(s) for instructional planning and delivery.
  • Shall monitor and maintain accurate records on scholar achievement, articulating the progress and success.
  • Shall provide explicit, scientifically based instruction to small groups of scholars.
  • Shall assist in the scheduling and assignment of scholars to the program.
  • Shall implement the assigned program of study. 8. Shall foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
  • Shall promote and maintain positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships.
  • Shall possess a strong commitment to help all children succeed.
  • Shall adhere to the teacher code of conduct.
  • Shall maintain professional work habits.
  • School principal and/or district leadership reserves the right to assign any other duties
