Job summary

Lake Forest School District in Delaware seeks an Academic Interventionist at Lake Forest High School to provide targeted reading and math interventions and MTSS support. The role involves interpreting assessments, planning programs, and collaborating with administrators, counselors, teachers, and families to improve student outcomes.

The position requires Delaware DOE certification, a Master’s degree or equivalent, and at least five years of classroom teaching experience.

  • Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide intervention services in reading and/or math for identified students.
  • Develop and implement research-based MTSS interventions.
  • Interpret assessment scores and plan appropriate programs.
  • Record and analyze student progress with qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Develop ongoing assessment measures and monitor standardized test scores.
  • Identify curriculum-based measurement tools for frequent progress monitoring.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment and support teachers.
  • Serve on the School Leadership Team and collaborate with staff.
  • Consult with parents and teachers on student progress.
  • Engage families and community in academic activities.
  • Plan, demonstrate, and co-teach using evidence-based strategies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports To

School Principal (or Assistant Principal)

Job Goal

To provide services to administrators, counselors, teachers, parents and students in the area of basic, developmental and advanced academic skills including informal and/or standardized measures to diagnose the strengths and needs of individuals and/or groups. The Interventionist will also provide support for tiered levels of interventions (MTSS).

Performance Responsibilities
  • Plans and provides intervention services in the areas of reading and/or math to identified students.
  • Develops and implements effective research based intervention strategies to meet the needs of all students.
  • Interprets assessment scores and plans appropriate programs.
  • Promotes the content relevance and effectiveness in terms of established objectives.
  • Records and analyzes student progress using qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Helps to develop ongoing assessment measures and interprets standardized test scores in relation to school objectives.
  • Research and identify appropriate curriculum based measurement tools to provide frequent monitoring of student progress.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conductive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  • Serves as a resource to teachers in identifying student needs, adapting instructional techniques, and selecting appropriate materials.
  • Is a key contributor to the School Leadership Team.
  • Consult with parents and teachers regarding student progress.
  • Supports the engagement of families and community in academic based activities.
  • Works with teachers to plan, demonstrate, and team teach using effective research based teaching strategies.
  • Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Special Requirements

Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside of the instructional day per the LFEA agreement.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

Conditions of Employment

  • Documentation of Mantoux skin test results for entrance to school system.
