Eckerd Connects in Monroe, VA is seeking an Academic Instructor to teach within the Job Corps program. You will present instruction in designated subjects, foster a positive learning environment, and ensure student motivation and discipline to maximise achievement.

Candidates must hold Virginia teaching certification and be willing to teach Middle School Math or Reading. A valid driver's license is preferred; background checks and drug screening are required.

Salary Range: $50,000

*Sign-on Bonus $5,000 (subject to payment terms)

Duties & Responsibilities

• The Academic Instructor performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject area.
• The Academic Instructor promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to insure maximum student motivation.
• Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to insure maximum learning.
• Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport.
• Utilizes all possible curriculum resources available.
• Maintains student personnel folders; records and forwards daily attendance to the Student Records area.

Qualifications

• Certified to teach in state of Virginia. Specific subject area certification not required, but willingness to teach the subject of Middle School Math or Reading.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
• Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.
