Eckerd Connects is seeking an Academic Teacher for Pittsburgh Job Corps to deliver instruction in designated subjects and supervise student projects.

The role emphasizes maintaining a positive classroom climate, maximizing student motivation, and ensuring disciplined learning environments. Pennsylvania teaching certification is required, with a preferred driver’s license and ability to pass background checks. Salary range is $45,000 to $47,000.

Qualifications

• Certified to teach in Pennsylvania.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Must pass a drug screen and a nationwide background check.

Responsibilities

• The Academic Teacher performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject area.
• Tutors and conducts other projects prescribed by Academic, Pre-College and Career Technical Training Areas.
• Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom to maximize student motivation.
• Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom to ensure maximum learning.
• Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport.
• Utilizes all possible curriculum resources available.
• Records and forwards daily attendance to the Student Records area.

Salary Range: $45,000 to $47,000

Duties & Responsibilities

• The Academic Teacher performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject area.
• Tutors and conducts other projects prescribed by Academic, Pre-College and Career Technical Training Areas.
• The Academic Teacher promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to insure maximum student motivation.
• Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to insure maximum learning.
• Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport.
• Utilizes all possible curriculum resources available.
• Records and forwards daily attendance to the Student Records area.

Qualifications

• Certified to teach in state of Pennsylvania.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred.
• Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.
