Job summary

Capital Medical Group (CMG) is seeking a fellowship-trained Hand & Upper Extremity Surgeon to join The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. The role includes a concurrent faculty appointment at GW SMHS, with a base salary plus wRVU productivity bonus and academic stipend, and an opportunity to teach residents and students at an academic Level I Trauma Center.

Qualifications include ABOS certification or equivalent, ACGME fellowship in Hand Surgery, and DC medical licensure.

Qualifications

  • D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school, with successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopaedic Surgery/Plastic Surgery/General Surgery residency and completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Hand Surgery
  • Board Certified / Board Eligible by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) with a CAQ in Hand Surgery, or equivalent certification
  • Active or eligible District of Columbia medical license
  • Eligible for and able to maintain medical staff privileges at GW Hospital and a faculty appointment at GW SMHS

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat the full spectrum of hand, wrist, and elbow conditions, including trauma, degenerative and inflammatory arthritis, and nerve compression syndromes
  • Perform soft-tissue, tendon, and nerve reconstruction, including microsurgical procedures as indicated
  • Provide surgical management of hand trauma at a Level I Trauma Center, including complex soft-tissue injury
  • Manage acquired hand deformities and post-traumatic reconstruction
  • Supervise orthopaedic residents and medical students in clinic and the operating room as part of the Hand rotation
  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, and staff to manage day-to-day clinical responsibilities
  • Document care using the GW Hospital / CMG electronic health record
