Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Permian Basin Department of Surgery is seeking a General Surgeon. The role focuses on rigorous clinical practice, surgical excellence, and professional development in a community hospital setting.

The position involves block time with community hospitals, call coverage rotation, and pre/post-surgical consultations, with opportunities for GME leadership and Da Vinci Robot use at partner facilities.

Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent required.
• Completion of, or in progress, an ACGME-accredited General Surgery Residency.
• Ability to obtain a Texas medical license.
• Foreign Medical Graduates: ECFMG Certification or Equivalency.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage a broad array of medical conditions through preoperative, operative and postoperative care.
• Provide inpatient and outpatient care of surgical patients.
• Perform procedures for both emergent and non-emergent conditions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and refer patients as appropriate.
• Educate patients on treatment plans, medications and pre/post operation care.
• Complete medical records accurately and timely.
• Participate in training of medical students and residents.
