Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Permian Basin Department of Surgery seeks a General Surgeon to join our residency-focused program. The role includes block time with community hospitals, on-call rotation, and continuity of pre- and post-operative care.

Opportunities for GME leadership with Residency and Clerkship Programs and Da Vinci robotic procedures at community hospitals are available, reflecting our mission to train surgeons who excel technically while upholding professionalism

Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent medical degree.
• Completion of, or in the process of completing an ACGME-accredited General Surgery Residency.
• Ability to obtain a Texas medical license.
• Foreign Medical Graduates: ECFMG Certification or Equivalency.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage a broad array of medical conditions through preoperative, operative and postoperative care.
• Provide inpatient and outpatient care of surgical patients.
• Perform procedures for emergent and non-emergent conditions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and refer patients as appropriate.
• Educate patients on treatment plans, medications and pre/post operation care.
• Complete medical records accurately and timely.
• Participate in the training of medical students and residents.

TX medical license

ECFMG Certification or Equivalency for IMG
