Job summary

TTUHSC Permian Basin Department of Surgery is seeking a General Surgeon to join our residency-focused program. You will provide preoperative, operative and postoperative care, participate in call coverage rotations, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across community hospitals in the Permian Basin.

The role emphasizes clinical excellence, professionalism, and patient-centered care, with opportunities for GME leadership and Da Vinci Robot procedures at community hospitals.

Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent.
• Completion of, or in the process of completing an ACGME-accredited General Surgery Residency.
• Ability to obtain a TX medical license.
• Foreign Medical Graduates Only: ECFMG Certification Equivalency Certification.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage a broad array of medical conditions through preoperative, operative and postoperative care.
• Provide inpatient and outpatient care of surgical patients.
• Procedures to include both emergent and non-emergent conditions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and refer patients as appropriate.
• Educate patients on treatment plans, medications and pre and post operation care.
• Complete medical records accurately and completely in a timely manner.
• Participate in the training of medical students and residents.

The General Surgeon will have block time scheduled with ourcommunity hospital(s), participating in call coverage rotation andmaintaining clinical time for pre and post surgical consultation.Opportunities for GME leadership with the Residency and ClerkshipPrograms. Da Vinci Robot opportunities at communityhospitals.
