Job summary

Washington State University, located in Pullman, WA, seeks a Finance/Budget Manager for the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences. This full-time, 100% FTE position oversees fiscal, budgetary, administrative, and operational management and advises the Chair on financial matters to support the department’s teaching, research, and outreach mission.

The role supervises staff, ensures policy compliance, and collaborates with internal and external partners including USDA-ARS units to maintain

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing administrative, operational, fiscal, or business functions.
• Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel and/or other computer software applications for reporting, analysis, and record keeping.
• Demonstrated experience developing, monitoring, reconciling, and analyzing budgets and financial reports.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the non-faculty administrative operations for the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences.
• Advise the Chair on fiscal, personnel, operational, and administrative matters.
• Coordinate and oversee departmental financial resources across operating, grant, contract, and gift funding sources.
• Supervise administrative support staff and ensure policy compliance with university and funding agencies.
