Job summary

Specialized Education Services, Inc. seeks an Academic Director to lead and grow our programs across diverse special and alternative education settings.

You will collaborate with teachers to deliver individualized services, monitor student progress, and communicate with families within our proven model. The role emphasizes upholding IEP compliance, driving PBIS initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and overseeing budgets and staff development.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education or related field is required.
  • Administration credential preferred.
  • Extensive experience with students with disabilities strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that academic policies and curriculum are followed
  • Developing and tracking benchmarks for measuring institutional success
  • Helping teachers maximize their teaching potential
  • Meeting and listening to concerns of students on a regular basis
  • Encouraging, guiding and assisting student leaders and teachers
  • Meeting with parents and administrators on a regular basis for problem resolution
  • Enforcing discipline when necessary
  • Providing an atmosphere free of any bias in which students can achieve their maximum potential.
  • Teach the knowledge and skills, nurture the confidence and character, and meet the needs of all students by utilizing SESI instructional models, strategies, and curriculum
  • Utilize school’s behavior management and intervention strategies including de‑escalation techniques, crisis management, and PBIS strategies.
  • Drive, record, and track student growth and progress towards academic, social, and emotional goals
  • Ensure that all students are being educated in accordance with their IEPs
  • Observe classrooms regularly using observation forms for staff feedback
  • Attend regional activities including weekly Director’s Meeting
  • Attend a monthly Goal Review with Supervisor; demonstrate growth
  • Forge and maintain stakeholder relationships (district officials, parents, etc.)
  • Maintain records including financial, state licensing, student, and employee documentation
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain the school's budget with financial guidelines
  • Analyze profit and loss statements and propose cost/revenue strategies
  • Collaborate with finance to prepare financial reports and forecasts
  • Assist in creating and enforcing HR policies and procedures
  • Support staff professional development initiatives
  • Manage enrollment processes
  • Coordinate daily school operations
  • Collaborate with facilities management on infrastructure needs
  • Implement systems to enhance efficiency
  • Organize and facilitate IEP meetings
  • Maintain documentation of special education services and progress reports
  • Stay updated with best practices in special education
  • Lead development and implementation of school-wide PBIS program
  • Provide guidance to teachers in PBIS implementations
  • Other duties may be assigned

Education

Master’s Degree in Education, Special Education, Social or Behavior Sciences, or a related field
Administration credential
Extensive experience with students with disabilities
